Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming – also referred to as conscious dreaming – is the act of dreaming and being aware that you are dreaming. There are some people who will suddenly know that they are dreaming and that what they are seeing is not real. It is usually caused by a ‘cue’ – something that will show the person that what they are seeing is a dream.
Keep in mind though that cues are not necessary for those who want to become lucid. There are some people who can automatically become lucid without seeing anything typical or strange in their dreams. it is easy to understand and for those who have patience they can learn to achieve this state of dreaming.
There are some people who are unaware of the difference between controlling their dream and having a lucid dream. The ability to control one’s dream does not mean that it will become lucid. Some people have the ability to have a lucid dream without having any control over it.
Levels Of Awareness In Lucid Dreams
There are different levels of awareness for people who are lucid dreaming. Those who have a high level are very much aware that everything being experienced in the dream is real and that there is nothing to be afraid of. When you have a low level of lucidity you are only slightly aware that you are dreaming – but not enough to have any impact on what happens. You may even accept that the dream is real.
As we stated earlier having a lucid dream does not necessarily mean that you can control the things in it. You will have a better chance at controlling them when you have a high level of awareness – but it sometimes takes practice. Yet, even with practice you need to have confidence and belief that you can do it.
Of course instead of changing the dream itself there are ways that you can control your behavior in it. This helps mainly when you are having nightmares. By controlling your behavior you could make sure that you do not get hurt in your dream. It may even be able to turn the nightmare into a happy and peaceful dream.
