First, this is a very common dream and there’s a very logical scientific answer for a falling dream for most of us. But before we begin, no – you won’t actually die if you don’t wake up before you hit the ground! Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get onto our analysis of what this dream might mean for you (physically or mentally).

The Scientific Approach

Usually to dream that you’re falling happens right around the time that you begin to fall asleep. It’s no coincidence, some studies suggest this might be caused by a slight drop in blood pressure as you relax or movement of fluid in your middle ear as you lay on your side. Other scientists suggest it’s hardwired into our brain from our days as tree hugging monkeys – those that fell out of the tree died and didn’t pass those genes on. Those of us that awoke right before we fell… well here we are.

Symbols and Spiritual Meanings

As with other dreams where you feel helpless, falling might indicate a fear of failure and anxiety about a situation in your near future. When you’re falling, you have no control of the situation and feel as though there is no hope – that it’s too late. Well, that’s just not so. Face whatever it is in your life that’s causing that stress and anxiety and you’ll face the falling dream head on.

Logic Prevails

You might have dreamed about falling down your stairs because your stair rail is loose, or fell off your porch because you don’t have a rail up yet. In some cases, those little things you notice might be your mind warning you or suggesting that you address those loose ends you’ve been meaning to get around to – before you get yourself or others hurt.

Dreaming about death or dying is a fairly common dream. While at first glance this dream may seem like a bad thing, it doesn’t always reflect something negative. In many cases, for example, dying can signify the ending of one life and beginning of another. In order to interpret your death dream you’ll need to put it into context with some of the scenarious below.

As mentioned earlier, the death may signify the beginning of a new time in your life. Some aspect of your life is about to change drastically, maybe a new career or relationship, or moving to a faraway place.

It may also be an indication that you should drastically change some part of your life. Your mind or body is letting you know that change is needed. Are you in a poisonous or abusive relationship, are you angry at someone or something in your life? What is your soul trying to tell you?

Don’t worry, in most all cases dreams about death is a positive thing – not a self-fulfilling prophecy. Hopefully it’s an indication that the end of your worries are near. It’ll be the worries, stressor or other factor that’s bringing you down that will die.

If you’re a woman, this is a very common dream (well, come to think of it, this would be kinda weird for a man). By that, I mean lots of women have a dream about being pregnant. While oftentimes it’s seen as a foretelling of the future, it doesn’t always mean there is a baby on the way.

Pregnancy dreams can symbolize that some part of yourself is developing. You might not be ready to deal with it yet, but your body or mind knows your ready. It’s time to act on that new idea you had, or go ahead with the new direction in your life. This is generally very positive and a great indicator that you really should get going with whatever is in your life you’re contemplating. If that that means having a baby – the so be it… but again, it doesn’t always.

Also, many women feel vulnerable when they’re pregnant. It’s a psychological interpretation, and can be triggered by stress and uncertainty. This might be your body’s way of saying that you’re feeling emotionally vulnerable inside.

We’ve talked about teeth in the past, though having a dream about losing your teeth is quite specific. Anytime someone dreams about something happening tho their teeth or losing a tooth (as an adult) the first thing we point to is insecurity. We’ll do our best to offer some suggestions as to how this dream might relate to your life situation:

Are you getting older, or fear getting old? This might be mean your afraid of dying.

Have you recently been rejected, for a loan or in a relationship? Again, we’re hitting on the insecurities here. Anything relating to teeth loss is a symbol of abandonment or being left behind. A helplessness, if you will. It’s a clear symbol of being powerless or having no control over the situation or outcome.

To overcome this dream, or this nightmare in many cases, you’ll need to face your insecurities.

Getting married is the ultimate symbol of commitment and is perhaps the most important decision someone could make in respect to how their life will be spent. To dream of losing your teeth or having them damaged implies that you’re uncomfortable with some part of your body. Dreaming about your teeth could also mean you have a fear of failing at something, or getting embarassed. You’re insecure about a particular situation or someone is making you feel uncomfortable.

There are also cultural myths to contemplate. Ancient Chinese say that telling lies will make your teeth fall out, so are you being untruthful about something? The Greeks say that rotten or missing teeth indicates a family member is near death. Some religions suggest you could be putting your faith in something or someone other than God.
